Ethiopia to play with Ghana and Cameroon

September 25, 2013 Ethiopia plans to play warm-up matches against continental powerhouses Ghana and Cameroon before taking on Nigeria in the final play-off for the 2014 World Cup, Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency (ERTA) reported on Tuesday.
The Walya Antelopes have opened camp in Addis Ababa with 24 players from the local league and expect four players from abroad to join up with the squad in a fortnight.
Coach Sewnet Bishaw is then expected to name his final 23-man squad to face the Super Eagles. His opposite number Stephen Keshi announced his 23-man squad for the game last week.
The East Africans will host the crunch tie against the Super Eagles on October 12 in Addis before coming to Calabar for the second leg on November 16.

If the Ethiopian Football Federation succeeds in securing friendly matches with either Ghana or Cameroon, it will give them an opportunity to test their strength against teams that play similar styles like the reigning African champions.

The Super Eagles defeated Ethiopia 2-0 in Rustenburg on their way to winning the Africa Cup of Nations early in the year.

ሼክ አላሙዲን ከቅርብ ጊዜ ወዲህ ከታክስ እና ከግንባታ ጋር በተያያዘ ከመንግስት ጋር ውዝግብ ውስጥ መግባታቸው ይታወቃል። የደህንነት መስሪያ ቤት በባለሀብቱ እንቅስቃሴ ዙሪያ መረጃ እንዳገኘ ቢገልጽም፣ መረጃውን እንዴት እንዳገኘው አልታወቀም። አንዳንድ ወገኖች ግን የሼክ አላሙዲን ከህግ በላይ መሆን ያሳሳበው መንግስት፣ አጋጣሚውን በመጠቀም ባለሀብቱን ለመምታት የፈጠረው ዘዴ ሊሆን ይችላል ይላሉ።

Oakland Institute and the Housing and Land Rights Network Submit Human Rights Report on Ethiopia to the United Nations

OAKLAND CA- In a report submitted to the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on September 15, 2013, the Oakland Institute and the Housing and Land Rights Network outlined the human rights and international law violations perpetrated by the government of Ethiopia in the name of country’s development strategy.

Drawing clear links between recorded testimonies on the ground and breaches of specific international covenants and articles in Ethiopia’s constitution, the joint submission to the UN Human Rights Council also responds to Ethiopia’s draft National Human Rights Action Plan for 2013-2015. “Rather than working to build a development strategy grounded in human rights, the Ethiopian government is attempting to hoodwink its human rights record, leaving unmentioned its villagization program and the Anti-Terrorism Proclamation-both used by the government as significant justifications for forced resettlement, arbitrary detentions, and politically motivated arrests,” said Anuradha Mittal, Executive Director of the Oakland Institute.

As previous Oakland Institute reports have chronicled, the Ethiopian government’s efforts to clear land for large-scale foreign investment has entailed widespread violations of human, social, economic, and political rights. Violations of citizen’s rights to self-determination, housing, land for subsistence production, and free political association–enshrined in the Ethiopian constitution, the Rural Land Administration and Land Use Proclamation, and in United Nations international covenants–are carried out in the name of development.
The joint UPR submission suggests that the ruling party’s ability to implement country’s unpopular

villagization program rests in its monopoly on force and dominance over the allocation of humanitarian assistance. “Authoritarian governance and the methods used in implementing development projects have combined to violate human rights to livelihood and culture for land-based peoples, especially in the peripheral regions,” said Joseph Schechla, Coordinator of the Housing and Land Rights Network. “Involuntary resettlement, a form of forced evictions, accompanies deprivation of the right to food, including the right to feed oneself, particularly for agropastoralists. On the other hand, the ability to control information and stifle dissent has enabled the ruling party to present a positive face to the international community, which has dubbed Ethiopia a nation in “renaissance”, he continued.

The joint submission presents undeniable evidence that should compel the international community to advocate for a human rights centered development strategy that would benefit all Ethiopians.

የፊታችን እሁድ በመስቀል አደባባይ አንድነት ፓርቲ ከ33ቱ ፓርቲዎች ጋር በጋራ ለጠራው የተቃውሞ ሰልፍ ቅሰቀሳ ላይ የነበሩ የፓርቲው አባላት መታሰራቸውን ተከትሎ እነርሱን ለማስፈታት ወደ ሽሮሜዳ አካባቢ የሚገኝ እስር ቤት ያመሩት ዶ/ር ነጋሶ “እነዚህን ልጆች የላኳቸው እኔ ነኝ፤ እነርሱን ከምታስሩ እኔን እሰሩኝ በማለታቸው የተወሰኑት ልጆች መፈታታቸውና አንዱ ካሜራ አንሺን ፖሊስ አልፈታም በማለቱ ዶ/ር ነጋሶም እርሱ ካልተፈታ አብሬ እታሰራለሁ በሚል ከፖሊስ ጣቢያ አልወጣም በሚል መቆየታቸውን ዘ-ሐበሻ ከጥቂት ሰዓታት በፊት ዘግባ ነበር። አሁን በደረሰን ሰበር ዜና ዶ/ር ነጋሶና የፍኖተ ነፃነት ጋዜጣ ካሜራ አንሺ ለ4 ሰዓታት ከታሰሩበት ተለቀዋል። ዘ-ሐበሻ እርሳቸውን አግኝታ ለማነጋገር ጥረት እያደረገች ነው።

Woyane got it all wrong; it has no way out but the unconditional surrender for democratic rule

September 24, 2013The Ethiopian regime seems to misunderstand what the people of Ethiopia are demanding. The sooner the regime gets it and surrender peacefully for democratic rule the better it would be. Playing hide-and-seek game isn’t going to do it.  Spewing empty ethnic and religious propaganda isn’t going to save it. Hiding behind corrupt investments and empty growth propaganda isn’t a substitute for freedom. Tormenting the population and jailing the innocent with empty bravado isn’t going to help it form its inevitable demise. Woyane and its stooges must appreciate the tolerance of our people and accept the illegitimacy of the ruling regime and live with it. Noting will change that reality.

Stupidity is a virtue brought about by ignorance, empty self-worth and bravado; often exhibited in a circle of people in-and around tyrannies, gangs and rouge groups that rely on intimidation and brut force to sustain their existence.  Therefore, the Ethiopian ruling regime known for its stupidity and brutality on the top of its organized corruption has no qualm to remain on the bottom of the pits since it came to power. Its apologists aren’t far behind; not willing to rise up to the occasion when the rotten regime reduces them to impersonator beyond recognition.

When the self-declared minority regime implemented Apartheid to insure its survival it was bound to commit atrocities and corruption beyond an average tyranny. When the apologist lie through their teeth to cover up for its crimes it was clear illustration of how a confined ethnic audience can be manipulated to play on the bottom. Therefore, the Woyane regime has one thing going for it; a collection of ethnic yes-men clapping with one hand and stealing with the other to make enough noise for the world to believe there is something out of noting.

ኢህአዴግ ወደ መጨረሻው ምዕራፍ (በውስጥም በውጪም ተግዳሮቶች) መገፋቱን በሚያመላክቱ የፖለቲካ አጀንዳዎች ላይ የሚያጠነጥን አንድ ፅሁፍ (‹የአብዮቱ የምፅዓት ቀን ምልክቶች›› በሚል ርዕስ) አቅርቤ እንደነበር ይታወሳል፤ ይዘቱም በመጪዎቹ ወራት ወይም ዓመት ስርዓቱ ‹ምርጫ› አሊያም ‹ህዝባዊ›  እምቢተኝነት ከሚያመጣው ‹ማዕበል› (እንደበረከት ስምዖን አገላለፅ ‹ናዳን በሚገታ ሩጫ›) የማምለጥ ዕድሉ የጠበበ መሆኑን የሚያመላክት ነው፤ ይሁንና አንድ አብዮት ታላቅ (ውጤታማ) ሊባል የሚችለው አምባገነን
ስርዓትን በመቀየሩ ብቻ ስላልሆነ (ሥር-ነቀል ለውጥ የሚፈጥር አብዮት ዋጋ የሚኖረው የዲሞክራሲ ተቋማትን መሰረት መጣል ሲችል ነውና) በቀጣይ መፃኢ ዕድሉ ላይ መነጋገሩ አስፈላጊ ነው ብዬ አስባለሁ፡፡


በዚህ ፅሁፍህ ተጠየቅም ‹ከስርዓቱ ለውጥ በኋላ፣ ማን ነው አማራጩ?› የሚለው ጥያቄ ትኩረት ይደረግበት ዘንድ አመላክታለሁ፡፡ ምክንያቱም በጠለፉ መንገድ ከቀሩ አብዮቶች ታሪክ ተምረን፣ ‹መጥነን ካልደቆስን› የሚከፈለውን ዋጋ በብላሽ የሚያስቀር አሳዛኝ ሁናቴ ሊፈጠር ይችላልና (ቭላድሚር ኤሊች ሌኒን ‹‹አብዮት፣ ለአብዮት ብቻ ሲባል መካሄድ የለበትም›› እንዲል፣ ከኢህአዴግ መገላገሉ መልካም ቢሆንም፣ የአገላጋዩን ማቀፊያ ከወዲሁ መምረጡ ወይም የምንጠይቀውን ማወቁ ብልህነት ነው)

The Right to Protest
They speak of democracy, but act violently to suppress dissenting voices and control the people through the inculcation of fear: they ignore human rights and trample on the people; they are a tyrannical wolf in democratic sheep’s clothing, causing suffering and misery to thousands of people throughout Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) government repeatedly scoffs at international law and consistently acts in violation of their own Federal constitution – a liberal document written by the regime to please and deceive their foreign supporters. They have enacted laws of repression: the widely condemned Charities and Societies  (ATD) law (CSO law) and the Anti-Terrorism Declaration, which is the main tool of political control, together with The ‘Mass Media and Freedom of Information Proclamation’ they form a formidable unjust arsenal of government control. Freedom of the media (which is largely ‘state-owned’) is denied and political dissent is all but outlawed.

በዚሁ ታጋቾችን ነፃ የማውጣት ዘመቻና ታጣቂዎቹ ሙሉለሙሉ በቁጥጥር ስር ለማዋል የተደረገው ጥረት ገና አላለቀም፡፡

The Ethiopian journalist Bisrat Woldemichael was kidnapped, threatened, humiliated, and beaten by the Ethiopian intelligence and security agents on 28 August, 2013. He has reported this incident today to journalists.

Bisrat reported that the dreadful incident took place at Gotera, a place in the capital Addis Ababa as he was walking home from work. He said he was victimized for exercising his right to free expression in conjunction with the related right to press freedom.

Bisrat Woldemichael works for a magazine, Ebony, as Editor in Chief, and writes political articles on different Ethiopian private press outlets. He also blogs at  www.addismedia.wordpress.com andwww.ethiopiahot.wordpress.com. The journalist is known for his outspoken articles focused on the poor governance and pervasive human right violation, which are turning the oldest East African nation, Ethiopia, into a hall.

Violence against journalists is a common practice in Ethiopia, a country generally regarded as one of the most dangerous places to be a journalist. According to Amnesty International, during the past three years only, over 100 prominent journalists were brutally prosecuted on fabricated charges, and too many others were also subjected to harassment, intimidation, and other violence.

When I wrote a commentary on the plight of the imprisoned 32-year old Ethiopian journalist Reeyot Alemu last April, I titled it “The Audacity of Evil in Ethiopia.” At the time, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) had sent a letter to the “Minister of Justice” of the ruling regime in Ethiopia pleading medical care for Reeyot and urging them to spare her from a threatened solitary confinement. In that commentary, I explained why I was compelled to “stray from my professional fields of law and politics” to moral philosophy.
In this commentary, I am again compelled to indulge in philosophical musings on the hubris of evil. I am prompted once again by a statement of the Committee to Protect Journalists issued last week protesting the decision by the ruling regime to impose severe visitor restrictions on Reeyot.  CPJ “called upon the Ethiopian authorities to lift these latest restrictions and allow Reeyot Alemu to receive all visitors… She is a journalist, not a criminal, and should not be behind bars.”
Reeyot began a hunger strike to protest an order by regime officials to pre-clear a list of her prison visitors. “In retaliation for the hunger strike, authorities forbade her from having any visitors excluding her parents and priest.” She was subsequently told that “she could receive any visitors except for her younger sister and her fiancé, journalist Sileshi Hagos [who had spoken publicly about the visitor exclusion order]… Sileshi was detained for four hours at the prison later that day when he attempted to visit Reeyot.”

Recently, someone one visited Britain from home on business tour and entertained us with an amusing story of Lamie Bora, the fictional character in the children’s stoy. Woyyane officials call us, Diaspora Lamie Bora (ላሜ ቦራ)።Are we really that “milka-cow?”

I am sure everyone who went to school in Ethiopia at my age knows the children story of Lamie Bora. Lamie Bora is a very touching story. The story goes like this. A dying mother entrusts her two children unto a cow, called “Lamie Bora.”Just before she died, she sung to the cow: “Lamie Bora! Lamie Bora! I leave my children’s wellbeing to you” (ላሜ ቦራ! ላሜ ቦራ! የልጆቼን ነገር አደራ). After a while the children’s father remarried another woman, whoturned out to be acruel stepmother. Every time she denied them food, the two children would go to Lamie Bora and sing “Lame bora! Lamie Bora! Don’t forget Mammie’s plea (ላሜ ቦራ! ላሜ ቦራ የእማምዬን አደራ!) Then Lamie bora would let the children suckle directly from the tits on her breast. Lamie Bora is supposed never to stop giving milk all year round.

ሀገራቸን ኢትዮጵያን ለቀው ለስደት የተዘጋጁት ዜጎችን ቁጥር መገመት አስቸጋሪ ቢሆንም በአንድ ወይም በሌላ ምክንያት መውጣት የቻሉት ግን ላለመመለስ ብዙ ምክንያቶች አሉዋቸው፡፡ ይህን የዜጎች (በተለይ የተማሩና ወጣቶች) ስደት ሀገራችንን ከፍተኛ ዋጋ እያስከፈላት እንደሆነ እና ወደፊትም ከፍተኛ ጉዳት እንደሚያስከትል ለማወቅ ሊቅ መሆን የሚያስፈልግ አይመሰለኝም፡፡ አሜሪካኖች በዲቪ እንኳን ሊወስዱት የሚፈልጉት ፊደል ቆጥሮ አንድ ነገር ሊያደርግላቸው የሚችለውን እንደሆነ እናውቃለን፡፡ ለዜጎች ስደት ምክንያቱ መንግሰት እንደሚለው ህገወጥ ደላሎች አይደሉም ይልቁንም የመንግሰት የተለያየ ፖሊሲ ውጤቶች ናቸው ብዬ ማሳየት ፈለኩኝ እና ይህን ፅሁፍ ጀመርኩ፡፡

ህወሓት በአባይ ወልዱና ደብረፅዮን ቡድኖች በሁለት መከፈሉ ይታወቃል። ባለፈው የህወሓት የማእከላዊ ኮሚቴ ስብሰባ የአባይና የደብረፅዮን ጠብ በጣም በመክረሩ የተነሳ ሽጉጥ መማዘዛቸው ተሰምቷል። ሃይለማርያም ደሳለኝና በረከት ስምዖን ለማስታረቅ የሞከሩ ሲሆን ዉጤቱ አልታወቅም።

በውስጥ በተፈጠረ አለመረጋጋት ምክንያት  ”በቅርቡ ታስሮ የነበረው የደህንነት ሃላፊ ከእስር ተፈቷል።” ሲሉ የግንቦት ሰባት ዋና ፀሀፊ የሆኑት አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ፅጌ ዋሽንግተን አሁን እየተካሄደ ባለው ህዝባዊ ውይይት ላይ  ገልፀዋል:: የግለሰቡን ስም አቶ አንዳርጋቸው አልገለፁም:: ባለፈው ወር ሬዲዮ ፋና የሃገር ውስጥ የደህንነት መምሪያ ሃላፊ የነበሩት አቶ ወልደስላሴ ወልደሚካኤል በሙስና ወንጀል ተጠርጥረው በቁጥጥር ስር ዋሉ። ሲል ዘግቧል።

ግለሰቡ በቁጥጥር ስር የዋሉት የነበራቸውን ስልጣን ያለአባብ በመጠቀም ምንጩ ያልታወቀ ሃብት በማፍራት የሙስና ወንጀል ፈጽመዋል በሚል  ተጠርጥረው ነበር።
ውይይቱ ዐሁንም ቀጥሏል።

ሠሞኑን የግንቦት ሰባት ዋና ፀሐፊ የሆኑት አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ጽጌ ስለ ኤርትራ ቆይታቸውና ስለድርጅታቸው ቀጣይ የትግል እንቅስቃሴ ሠፊ ገለጻና ማብራሪያ በኢሣት ቴሌቪዠን ከሠጡ ወዲህ የዘረኛው የትግሬ ነጻ አውጪ ግንባር ደጋፊ የሆኑት መርገማዊ ልሳኖች( አይጋ ፎረም ፤ ትግራይ ኦላይንና አውራንባ ታይምስ) እና አንዳንድ ተንበርካኪ የመንደር ሬድዮኖች ሰፊ የውግዘትና የህዝብን መንፈስ ያሸብርልናል በተቃዋሚዎችም ላይ ጥርጣሬ ይዘራልናል በሚል ደካማ ግንዛቤ እያካሄዱ ካለው አሰልቺና ኋላቀር ፕሮፓጋንዳ እጅግ ተጋኖ እየቀረበ ያለው ከሻብያ ጋር አብሮ መስራት ታላቅ የሃገር ክህደት ስለመሆኑ እፍረት የለሽ ኡኡታ በማሰማት ላይ ይገኛሉ።
ይህንን ጽሑፍ እንድጽፍም ያነሳሳኝ ይህ የወያኔ በቀቀኖች ልቅ ያጣ የፀረ ሻብያ ውትወታ ወያኔ የምትባለው የጠባብ ዘረኞች ቡድን ለዚህ ዛሬ ለደረሰችበት የዘረፋና የልዕልና ደረጃ የበቃችው ከቶ በማን ትከሻ ሆነና ነው ። ዛሬ ሌሎች ኢትዮጽያውያን ወደ ኤርትራ ስለሄዱ ይህ ሁሉ ውንጀላ ደጋፊ ተብዬቹ የሚነዙት ወያኔ በሻብያ ሁለገብ ድጋፍ የማቴሪያል የትጥቅ የዕቅድና የሃሳብ መመሪያ ውጪ እንኳን ሚኒሊክ ቤተመንግስት ልትደርስ ቀርቶ ተከዜንም ባልተሻገረች ነበር።በአንድ ወቅት የኤርትራው መከላከያ ሚንስትር ጀነራል ስብሃት ኤፍሬም ስለ ወያኔዎቹ ያለውን እጅግ የወረደ ንቀት የገለጸበትን አባባል እንዳስታውስ አሰገደደኝ ‘’እኛ ከነጀነራል ደምሴ ቡልቱና ከነጀነራል ረጋሳ ጅማ ጋር በመዋጋታችን ኩራት‘’ የሚሰማን በመሆኑ ከነዚህ የፍየል እረኛ ወያኔዎች ጋር ፈጽሞ ለንጽጽር የማይቀርቡ እጃቸውን ይዘን ለዚህ ያደረስናቸው እኛነን ሲል ነበር ከአመታት በፊት የተናገረው። ወያኔዎች በሻብያ የበላይ ሹማምንት ብቻ ሳይሆን በተራው ተጋደልቲ ጭምር የሚናቁና እንደ ሻብያ አገልጋይ የሚታዩ ስለመሆናቸው ከሁለት አስዕርተ አመታት በኋላ እንኳ አለመለወጡን በረባው ባረባውም በባነኑ ቁጥር የሻብያ ስም እንደሚያስበረግጋቸው ዘወትር ከአፋቸው አለመጥፋቱን የምናስተውለው ሲሆን የሰሞኑ ደግሞ ተባብሶ የሚታየው ጫጫታ አንዱ የወያኔዎች የፍርሃት ማሳያ ይመስለኛል።

የዛሬው የሰማያዊ ፓርቲ ሰልፍ ፎቶና የሚያሰሟቸው መፈክሮች በጥቂቱ !!

በአሁኑ ሰዓት ሰማያዊ ፓርቲ ከሶሰት ወር በፊት የጠራውን ሰልፍ እያካሄደ ይገኛል:: ሰልፉ በደማቅ ሁኔታ ተጀምሮ ነበር የሰልፉ መድረሻ መሰቀል አደባባይ ቢሆንም ሕዝቡ አራት ኪሎ አካባቢ ሲደርስ የአዲስ አበባ ፓሊሶች ሰልፈኛውን ወደ መሰቀል አደባባይ እንዳይሄድ ሲያግዱ የፌድራል ፓሊስ ደግሞ በርቀት እየተመለከተ ነው::ሰልፈኞቹ ወደ ስማያዊ ፓርቲ ቢሮ እንዲመለስ ተደርጓል ሕዝቡ ግን ድምጹን ከማሰማት ወደኋላ አላለም

የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ጥቅም ዋነኛ ጠላት ወያኔ ብቻ ነው!!

የግንቦት 7 የፍትህ፤ የነጻነትና የዲሞክራሲ ንቅናቄ ዋና ጸሃፊ አቶ አንዳርጋቸው ፅጌ በቅርቡ ከኢሳት ቴሌቪዥን ጋር ባደረገው ቃለ ምልልስ ዋነኛው የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊና ዘላቂ ጥቅም ጠላት ወያኔ መሆኑን አስረግጦ ተናግሮ ነበር። ይህንን አባባል አንድ ተቃዋሚ ለተቃውሞ ያህል ወይም ስርዓቱን የሚጠላ አንድ ግለሰብ ስርአቱን ስለሚጠላዉ ብቻ እንደተናገረው አድርጎ አቃልሎ ማየት ትልቅ ስህተት ነው። ወያኔ ከፍጥረቱ ጀምሮ እስከአሁኑ ቅጽበት ድረስ በሀገራችን ላይ የፈጸመውን ደባ በቅጡ ያላዩ ሰዎች ይህ አባባል የተጋነነ ይመስላቸው ይሆናል። ኢትዮጵያ ዛሬም አንደ አገር የቆመችዉ በህዝቦቿ ታላቅነትና እንዲሁም ለታሪካቸው ባሳዩት ክብርና ብርታት ነዉ እንጂ እንደወያኔማ ቢሆን ኖሮ የኢትዮጵያ ህልውና አደጋ ላይ ከወደቀ ሰንብቷል።
